As Trustees of Wayne Township, we are interested in your opinion of establishing a

Police Department for the residents of our Township.  The only effective way of doing

this is to ask for your opinion in a survey.   If you click on the Police Department web

site there is a form there for you to fill out. We need your name and address to consider
this valid.  We don't want people outside our Township influencing our decision for the

residents of our township.  Once you have filled out the form, click on submit and it will

be received by the Township Trustees.

Before you vote I would like to give you some information to base your decision upon.

Based on the calculations we received from the County Auditors office for the previous

Safety Levy, property valued at $100,000 with a 1-mil levy would only increase a

homeowners taxes by  approximately $54.00 per year.  At 2-mils a homeowners taxes

would increase approximately $108.00 per year.

In November 2006 the voters of Wayne Twp rejected a 1.75-mil safety levy.

The figures as provided by the auditor's calculations, the proposed 1.75-mil Safety levy

would have generated approximately  $120,000 per year.

My guess is that on a 2-mil levy we will generate approximately $150,000  per year.

Please remember that these figures are an approximate, but I feel confident that we will
be close.  If the survey comes back as a majority for establishing a Police Department,

we will go forward and have an updated figure that we'll receive from the Auditor. That

too, will be posted on this web site and it will be noted at the trustee meetings.

We will need to ask for a minimum of a 2-mil levy to operate a new Police Department

on a part-time basis and I believe that with a little bit of help from grants, private

Corporations, money wisely spent and good management we may be able to operate

this department close to full time.  This we can't promise, but we'll do the best we can

for the residents.

Crime is full time, not part time & we will strive to reach a full time department in the

future, if this is what the residents want, and in time with the help of the citizens of this

township, we will achieve this goal.

Whether you want or don't want a Police Department, please spread the word to your

neighbors so they can complete the survey.  If your neighbors don't have Internet

access or a computer, let them know that there is access through the Clermont Public

Libraries.

We  want a true representation from the citizens of Wayne Township.

Thank you for your participation,

Dennis Elchlinger
